High School Admissions
RECENT ADMISSIONS SEMINAR
Principal Macri, the PTA, and the Guidance Department would like to thank MS104 parent-alum, Elissa Stein, for sharing her amazing insight into the very complicated NYC high school admissions process. Her seminar was very well-attended by our parents and provided extremely helpful information for moving forward in choosing and being accepted to the high schools that will hopefully best suit our students.
Because of the constantly shifting landscape of the process, Elissa requested that we only make the recording of the seminar available for one week. That week has come and gone, but if you have any other questions or even seek one-on-one assistance, we encourage parents to reach out to Elissa through her website, High School 411.

VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION
MySchools Event Calendar
MySchools is an excellent resource for learning a wealth of information regarding the city’s schools. On their homepage families will be able see “upcoming events” as well as view upcoming tours, open houses, and fairs that you may be interested in attending. This information is normally very accurate, but it’s always a good idea to check individual school websites to confirm any information received through third party sites.
For MySchools current list of High School tours, both virtual and in-person, click HERE.
There are various high schools throughout the city that focus on Visual Arts Programs, which have unique admissions requirements. MySchools is an excellent resource for some of these schools, but again, we always encourage you to visit individual schools’ websites for the most up-to-date, specific, and accurate information.
However, for an example of common instructions & requirements for many of these programs please click HERE for a document compiled by our very own Ms. Rosenblum.
Other arts programs including instrumental music, dance, theatre, vocal music and many more can be found HERE.
Additional Assessments for Screened Schools
Are you applying to the following consortium schools? Beacon, East Side Community, Institute for Collaborative Education, School of the Future, and University Heights Secondary - did you know these schools all have an additional assessment?
These assessments can be found by searching MySchools for the specific school you’re applying to. The assessment will also be submitted through your MySchools account.
Are you applying to Bard?
They also have one assessment for both schools.
Are you applying to any of the following schools, NEST+M - New explorations into Science Technology and Math, Gramercy Arts High School, NYC iSchool, Frank McCourt High School and/or Manhattan Hunter Science High School? These schools also have additional assessments. For more details, click HERE.
Also, the guidance department has posted the Manhattan screened assessments, which you can see by clicking HERE.
